Tasting curry in an Indian restaurant in Tooley Street or was I in India?

My title says it all. I have summed up pretty much most of the curry house around London, but I have never found this level of service in any other restaurant. The Shad Indian restaurant in Tooley Street is a stylish, modern Indianrestaurant in central London with a colour theme of light and pink, comfortable and lavish seats, clean lines of tables. The Shad offers a lot to look at, beyond the good-looking folks! The beautiful chandeliers and fully-stocked liquor display is eye-catching, and lends a touch of luxury.

I was quiet taken aback with all the décor and the ambience that I had no idea how I ended up inside with my coat on. After a while I realized, I sat in a cozy corner. I love Indian food. If you want the absolute real deal, you need to head to this Tooley street Indian restaurant.

To judge a restaurant’s menu it is advisable to go from the entrees or starters as you please. The starters that were served was SPECIAL MIXED STARTER and it had the best kebab I have tasted so far. The khadom phool (cauliflower) batter that came with this dish was good and crispy. To go well with the dish the attendee referred the HOUSE SPECIAL CHAT a mix of chicken/potatoes and chickpeas, sliced egg went fabulous.

As I am always traveling, I had tasted GARLIC CHILLI CHICKEN when I visited Rajasthan in India back in 2005. Seeing the dish on their menu I had to try it again. Trust me I know how good the dish can be. Tasting the dish here made me think this chef knows how to cook. With the traditional bread (naan) the garlic chilli chicken was fantastic. The level of spices and the chicken was marinated in such a way, I could still smell the aroma after all these days. Indian food is complex and top restaurants require chefs with years of experience of cooking with spices. A real good chef works here, I must say. The KHALA LAMB BHUNA is to-die-for so getting it on my plate before the minute hand hits dessert-hour. I was lucky enough to taste this dish. The lamb had a smoky flavour and the curry that came with it had a really good looking appeal to it.

Who said you had to go to India for this? I am sure I know now where to go for if I want a good meal for my weekend. The Shad has an excellent cook and excellent service. I would recommend anyone who wish to visit this place.
